Happy New Year 2019

I am counting down my last hours of 2018 in the tranquil days between the winter solstice and the advent of a New Year. The events of the past are crackling in the air, preparing to slip into memory, only to be revived in wistful moments of reminiscence. 2018 was a crazy spectacular year with personal highlights, unexpected accomplishments, adventure, new opportunities, trials and, as always, grappling with RA – sometimes winning, sometimes losing.

A new year is a chance to begin again – to ponder fresh goals, re-evaluate our lives and work towards completing the things we started. I look forward to the ups and downs of another season. I am ready to meet the challenges and victories that will rise up to greet me – one step at a time, one day at a time, one story at a time, one triumph at a time.

I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year. May you have wellness, discover victories in little things and marvel at every achievement no matter how small, because in every goal we reach there is always cause to celebrate.

See you in 2019.

About J.G. Chayko

I am a writer living on the beautiful West Coast in Vancouver B.C. I am a poet at heart but also write prose, fiction and creative non-fiction. In my thirties, while working for a Rheumatology clinic, I was diagnosed with early Rheumatoid Arthritis. I created " The Old Lady In My Bones" to share my experience living with this disease and to create an awareness that arthritis touches people of all ages, not just the elderly.
